Dreams are particularly potent and fluid during spiritual immersions and retreats, as the veils between the worlds are held opened (and guarded, mind you) by the Teacher.
Imagine the delight (or shock!) when one student dreamed of the Goddess Durga at night — and received as a gift a small murti of Her right the next day! Sometimes, the Goddess makes Herself known very directly by those who are ready to work with a specific energy, or have a prior karmic connection. It’s personal experiences like these that I hope to bring forth with all my sacred journeys and retreats.
If Shakti is the infinite, ever-unfolding reality — then Shiva is the unmoving point of stillness at the heart of it all. To say that they represent the Sacred Feminine and Masculine respectively is a somewhat simplistic misrepresentation, yet for the limitation of translation they will do for now.
Shiva sits in deep meditation, unmoving, completely immersed in samadhi; Shakti the Goddess dances with total abandonment and bliss around him. Her heart is fixed and grounded in complete trust in Shiva to be there as She manifests as countless waves of emotions; He basks in the radiant joy emanating from Her dance of life.
Tantra, the spiritual science of alchemy, seeks to awaken and develop these two principles of Shiva and Shakti within us.
Cheers!
